I have special feet and these are my new special boots. And they're awesome!

Special needs boots

It took the shoemaker over 6 months to make them, but they're perfect. Someone's gonna be hiking everywhere soon πŸ™‚

Yes, I know, they're just shoes. But they're something special to me. Today is a good day!

Custom shoes are great and should be bragged about.

NGL, those look like extremely well made boots. I’m sure they’ll last you a very very very long time.

I really hope so! I'll take care of them for sure.

Good shoes are important! Everyone should have access to them. Great that you have a cobbler that can make them for you. Did you have specific blueprints (? don't know the right term) that you gave them or did they take measurements at the place?

I made acrylic prints of my feet years ago. I mail the prints to cobblers or other special footwear suppliers, so they have exact models to work on, or try the shoes on for size before sending them to me.

Even if you have normal feet, if you always want to buy the correct size, making copies of your feet you can send someone is a life-saver!

If you're curious how I made them, here's a howto video:

Casting feet to make prints to send to custom shoemakers

The cobbler who made these shoes is local to me. I brought them my prints, but they had their own workflow. So in the end, they didn't use them.

Nice. I was thinking of like sheets of paper with the outline of each pane of the shoe, but you have the whole 3D model! =D Must be rewarding using your skills to solve your own problem like that. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your hikes!

Momma always says there's an awful lot you could tell about a person by their shoes. Where they're going. Where they've been. I've worn lots of shoes. I bet if I think about it real hard I could remember my first pair of shoes. Momma said they'd take me anywhere. She said they was my magic shoes.
