Why are some of them squished? Wonder if that is a bad edit or if it was actually taken like this due to distortion from the atmosphere somehow.

It’s because the moon is flat and in those photos you are looking at it from an angle.

I would assume it’s the natural visual distortion from when the moon is viewed when really low on the horizon.
Purple moon?! The moon can turn purple?!
All those photos are taken from Earth, and its atmospheric conditions filter the color of the light reflected off the Moon.
