House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said Democrats will not focus on impeaching President Trump if they regain a majority in the lower chamber after midterm elections.

“I’ve made clear from the very beginning that our top priority is going to be to drive down the high cost of living,” the House minority leader added.

The House minority leader has lauded Democrats’ push for redistricting nationwide in an effort to pick up additional House seats and signaled that the party will advocate more for working-class Americans, after Democrats saw losses from the key demographic in the 2024 election.

PS this is low effort memes, I'm not going to defend the meme in the comments - feel free to argue with yourselves

Edit: I'm not american so you're extra wasting your time arguing 🤷‍♀️

Meme aside, I'm absolutely voting blue no matter who because

  1. Literal fascists are in control of our federal government.

  2. There is no viable 3rd party. No 3rd party is seriously trying to be viable. And American citizens aren't taking 3rd parties seriously by voting for them in local/state elections. So there is absolutely no chance of a 3rd party accomplishing anything in the near or even remote future.

I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but none of this crazy shit was happening before January 2025. I'm voting to go back in that direction.

To be clear, I'm totally onboard with reforming the Democrat party by primarying out the bad actors. That's way, way more likely than making a 3rd party viable in the short amount of time we have left before we aren't a democracy anymore.

the blue no matter who thing is funny because trump originally was going to run as a democrat. would they have still voted for him?

How the Hillary Clinton campaign deliberately “elevated” Donald Trump with its “pied piper” strategy

Hillary was more afraid of Jeb Bush than anyone else in the GOP field, because she thought she'd lose to him the same way Gore lost to his brother. So she brought in her close friend and mega-donor, Donald J. Trump as a stalking horse who could humiliate Jeb from the right. Trump was more than happy to campaign as a Republican, because he had a chip on his shoulder over Barack Obama sullying the White House with his black ass. So the two conspired to give Hillary a Presidency and Trump a lucrative grifting opportunity.

A vote for Hillary, in the primary, was effectively a vote for Donald.

Yes maga is dogshit but the democrat leadership is in bed with them, that's the problem and there's no easy solution. Even if Ocasio Cortez and Sanders and others are amazing, they need more allies because schumer and jefferies are lockstep with trump behind closed doors.

Silly people here having arguments like they exist in a democracy that will change their lives for the better if only smart choices were made.

Restructure ICE to deport MAGA.

They probably won't do shit about cost of living either. The only time it's gone down in the past 20 years was in 2009 after the housing market crashed. That likely had more to do with the recession; and if anything the Democrats' actions were a hindrance to that reduction.

Yeah, Obama and Timmy's choice was to bail out Wall Street and let main street take the hit. And they still can't figure out how they lost support in 2010.

You americans are going to have a rough time now that you have burnt all your soft power and goodwill. Sure you have other problems too, but I don't think any political party can just "turn the 'cost of living' knob up".

[–] Objection@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Sure they could. Just cut the military budget in half and give it to the people, simple as. They just don't want to.

"So by decrease the cost of living that means doing more than offering a one time tax credit to small business and first time home buyers?"

"uhhhhhh.... look over there Trumps doing a funny dance"

Nah we’re not doing this “genocide Joe” bullshit again.

During the primaries we can and should try to make our voice heard to get the most perfect candidates possible on the ballot. During election we do what we must to prevent sliding further into authoritarianism.

Ok, when is the right time to advocate for positive change as ordained by The Holiness Blarth?

Vote establishment out, they carry considerable blame for our current predicament. "Proud Zionist" Biden literally said last election "nothing will fundamentally change from Trump", that's who they are.

[–] ViceroTempus@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

Don't forget the "Bi-partisanship" we needed after Jan 6th. Donald Trump tries to make a coup happen, but what we needed was "Bi-partisanship". Whole Republican Party kept backing Trump's play, and running cover for him, but we needed "Bi-partisanship".

Still pissed about that particular speech even though it has been 6 years.
