"Turning the tide requires a new approach that goes far beyond patching up the NHS to tackling the root causes of poor health,” she said"

"Ministers should force food firms to make their products healthier, introduce minimum unit pricing of alcohol in England, as Scotland has done, and tackle drug-related harm..."

Yeah... no... that's not the reason healthspans are falling. Every person is currently living in heightened stress due to the ever rising cost of living (e.g. council tax going up £480, electricity bills doubling, food bills almost tripling 2021--2026), and a job market so bad folks are opting to emigrate.

Stress kills, and prolonged stress kills far faster than you'd think.

This would require fundamental changes to the system, and none of our corporate-whore political class would ever threaten the profits of their donors.

Best they can do is virtue signal non-solutions that make everything worse and increase profit margins. The exploitation will continue until the profits improve.

And when you do get quite literally sick from it all, good luck finding care, you're SoL most places for physical health, and for mental don't even bother, all you're gonna get is more stress trying to do the seemingly impossible task of getting an appointment, and when you are one day crippled and bedridden in hospital corridor, the RAC concrete will at last put you out of your misery.
