Fuck I wish progesterone did that to my libido

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 49 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I haven't been horny all the time, but being horny just feels more fun now, so it happens more often. It's either that or intense mood swings that make me turn into a clam

I find if I really want it to go crazy I have to cycle it and take it rectally

[–] quantumgenderino@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

By cycle it you mean taking breaks from taking it? What kind of schedule?

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

2 weeks on 2 off is common as is 3 on 1 off. But it's the sort of thing you can experiment with

You got any tips for brands? Felt cute, might self-medicate later~

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No, but my someone I know is looking into the prospect of making something usable from raw powder, so I'll let you know if it goes well

[–] Diva@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 weeks ago

I've been boofing it for months now and the main benefits have been way better mood and hair lmao

Hm, my endocrinologist never mentioned taking progesterone as an option. Why do you take it and do you have any site that you could point me to that has more information?

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Sadly I don't, as a lot of the evidence for progesterone's effects on transfeminine HRT is anecdotal or very new. It's understudied even by trans HRT standards.

I've personally experienced libido increases, body odor changes, skin changes in sensitive areas, greater mood swings, and a bit of breast growth. Like estrogen, mileage varies, only moreso.

Thanks for the response! OK, so then I'll just postpone thinking about taking progesterone until we have more substantiated information about it. I've infrequently heard about it for the last 6-7 years now, but nothing really specific (except maybe for breast development).

What are your personal reasons for taking it? (If you feel comfortable sharing this obviously)

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Basically all the possible effects were something I wanted, and while I'd be disappointed if I didn't get them, I wouldn't be that distraught about it. So far I've been happy with it

plusputting it up my butt every night hasn't been so bad

[–] flora_explora@beehaw.org 2 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks for the answers! Maybe I ask my endocrinologist next time what she thinks about it as well.
