A place for optimism, relentless positivity, anti-doomerism, and snuggle sessions.

We're all in this together, and a better world is possible!

This is now also a space for organizing tips for our collective survival as we confront climate change and everything else. Still no doom-posting. We're here to work together, support each other, and boldly face the future.

Rules:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the site-wide Code of Conduct

  2. No doom, no gloom, only bloom. There's plenty of room for doomerism elsewhere. This community is solely for having a positive outlook on the future and spreading good vibes.

  3. Be kind to your fellow users. This also means no arguing in the comm. Arguments and negativity are not conducive to blooming. Constructive discussion is good. No interest-policing. Support your comrades in their joy!

  4. Always share good news. We can't exactly enforce this one, but if you have good news, please share it with us! Keeping happiness and positivity to yourself is the twelfth type of liberalism.

Brought the little one to a little carnival thing that's in town and seeing the absolute pure joy on a kid's face when the fish ride starts going is wonderful.

[–] Blockocheese@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ive always thought taking a kid to amusement park/ carnival type thing was such an act of love.

They're usually kinda expensive and when it's hot out and if you only ride the rides theyre allowed on youre waiting in line and paying for overpriced food soley because they'll enjoy it

Im glad they had fun!

As soon as i saw the look of happiness any feelings of being price gouged for fried batter left my body.

A friend I haven’t spoken to in years reached out from a rough situation asking if I had any leads on work. She mentioned some experience with a certain field, and I asked the one person I know in that field. Turns out he’s going on paternal leave and needs someone to cover for him, and he immediately reached out to her. I should help people more often, this shit is easy.

Applied to loads of jobs as of late... far more than I've ever done. This is because I've opened myself up to taking the bus and working at distant places if I must, so a lot less was off the table. I have some interviews, and I hope they go well for me.

My birthday is nearby, and I told myself that I hope that I get hired by my birthday... don't know if I will, but, hopefully, at least, a little bit after.

Spent my Saturday at a sand castle competition watching professional sand castle people make sand castles. It was pretty neat. I'm going to post some photos in a bit. There were people from Germany, Canadia, Russia, France, and other places here, to build sand castles. It was really fun. I took almost 900 photos today. There were thousands of people out there, and everyone was orderly, no drama, people said excuse me, and were polite. It was really nice, that part.

Got some pickled hot peppers and finished a book I'd been reading. Feels like I'm recovering or at least getting to a stable place mentally.

That heron pic looks like it could be in a magazine, it's beautiful

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago

Thanks! It was the one putting in all the effort on being beautiful, though, I just pointed my camera at it.

The muskrat was absolutely booking it, so I’m glad I even got a pic before it dove.

I went to a bead store yesterday and the owner so nice and really knew what she was talking about.

I dont know much about beading and told her that and she was drawing me diagrams and giving me different product recommendations based off what I wanted and price range.

I also tried a new drink from a boba place that was great and got a shiny perfect IV riolu in Pokémon go.

I went on a small weekend trip with my comrade who kissed me at the start of the week, it was very pleasant! (deliberate understatement).

My chicks are about 4 weeks old now and quickly entering awkward teenage phase. Will hopefully transitioning them to their coop in a few more weeks.

Also a group I help started for local needs is still going strong despite my not being there really the last few months cause of health and now surgery recovery. They are good people and I'm hoping we can build a strong base to get things moving in the right direction for more collapse shit happening. It's honestly been very up lifting the amount of people who have reached out to provide resources or help in some way or another. I think regardless of what happens our area will be able to respond.

I have a phone screening tomorrow for an ACTUALLY SALARIED position. It pays pretty good

But if that fails, already my summer gig asked me to apply to a fall position so my worst case scenario goes from a summer job to a summer and fall job.
