Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

My newborns bedroom certainly seems like a strong contender despite only being 10 weeks old

The Vatican is a good shout. Also the Tower of London which has had a castle in its current location since 1068 and has been occupied continuously ever since.

There are churches where people have had round-the-clock vigils for over a century.

Any… Train station? Airport? Police station? The White House? Emergency call handling centres? Hotel reception? etc etc

And that’s just for the young country of the US.

Surely there's been a period for like, a fire drill or something. The Pentagon wouldn't do that, at least not fully.

How can USAians be so dense? How old is the pentagon? How old is the USA? Do you really not know anything about history outside of the USA?

I'm sure the London government district, or some government or religious building in China, Japan or Russia easily beats it.

Americas president made his best attempt to describe the closest neighbour outside their continent, and came up with "piece of ice".

Thats what we are working with.

Humans didn't have building 250 years ago. Trumps family made the first building for George Washington in DC, thats how he found real-estate to be his passion, actually buildings really speak to him, and he can listen to them like no one else can. Build me into a great tower don, the trump tower in new york said to him and look at what its become. Its literally dripping in gold. Greatest building that ever existed, tons of people are saying it. Then what happened with George's house was, all you shithole counties stole our tech! Incredible just stole the building buildings power and tech from trump. The books you might have about buildings before trump are all part of a radical hoax by the democrats. You know why they call themselves that right? Because their demons. Everyone's saying it.

I don't find it credible any more unless rambling like that is delivered on a white house balcony with a man in an Easter Bunny costume standing alongside.
