introductions go well

(Kittens were coralled and Cerys made a graceful exit from the room and was fed crocodile bites for putting up with them for fifteen minutes)

That's me when someone walks into my kitchen while I'm cooking.

Put in my application to volunteer at lost dogs home.

Fingers crossed.

[โ€“] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lost dogs or Lort Smith? I did about seven months at Lort Smith.

I'll apply at lort Smith as well

Let me know if theyโ€™re as high risk for euthanasia as theyโ€™re painted out to be. I avoid surrendering cats to shelters after seeing some of that stuff

[โ€“] bacon@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sent a sick stray to the vet who then sent kitty to them. They were still taking care of her a few weeks after when I called to check.

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Thatโ€™s good. Still concerned

Will do. I know they have a bad rep I just want to see how it all works.

I was looking forward to sleeping on the left side. Ah well.

Why do I offer to host knowing it'll throw me into an anxious mess? Thankfully it's only coffee for Boyo's sister and her partner, but I'm still like urg

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I freaked out a bit throwing the partay. Last time I did a little gathering like that was about 20 yrs ago, and we were all high after clubbing so it was easy lol.

How people manage the stress of hosting big ones is very much beyond me.

It was a lovely partay though. Nice & friendly.

Hosting an event is ALL about prep. Even to the point of drawing up a chart on a piece of paper. And dividing up tasks to be done on day minus x, day minus 1, day itself. Then the actual event is a LOT more relaxed. I thought you did really well for the partay.

Seems in my peer group stress is remedied with coke basically lol

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

lol. Fancy.

No way I could've afforded that.

My blood was never blue enough for bougie speed lol

I saw this recipe on Insta for baking hot cross buns in something like a custard sauce, with milk / cream / butter / sugar / eggs and a few other things. Iโ€™m not sure if this is some Easter tradition I missed out on growing up but knew I had to make it. This is now my lunch.

baked hot cross buns

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Who has left over hot cross buns?

Yes it's tradition. It's like bread and butter pudding using leftover/stale hot cross buns.

Yours looks amazing!

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Thatโ€™s a twist on bread and butter pudding

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Cleaning

Checking the Bissels at the GGs. Powerforce Pet is $299 at the moment ~~and another with steam is $479~~ (hard floor cleaner)โ€ฆ ending April 8. Vax compact carpet washer is $219. The Kmart generic is $119 which is more my budget but I wonder about the vacuum quality and therefore the water removal and drying.

Hate having carpet. Whose idea was this? Considering just spraying it down with diluted benzalkonium chloride from one of those big sprayers or using a cheap handheld steamer bought off eBay. But it is kinda grubby and Iโ€™m a bit worried about leaving on the toxic to cats carpet foam spray I used ๐Ÿ˜•

TW grief/mental healthGrief has combined with everything else going on and has pushed me into an actual mental health crisis. Iโ€™m getting help and all but my god this sucks. I just wish it would end.

Starting Endep at a very low dose to try and dull this abdominal pain because itโ€™s worsened under stress and so severe I can barely eat.

Iโ€™ve had a lovely sleep in, and am about to commence beans on toast

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

My fruit & veg box has arrived for the month. I have lots of cauliflower (destined for soup) and a huge amount of grapes. The lettuce however was extremely tiny, which is probably a good thing as I still have more than expected left from last month - the change to cooler weather has slowed down my salad intake somewhat.

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Almost all done w/ the downpipes.

Last steps is to flush it then put bicarb and cleaning vinegar down each one, wait over night then flush with hot water (going up ladders w/ hot water will probably win me the darwin award).

It rained a bit last night and the downpipe outside my bedroom was flowing very nicely so seemingly this whole wasn't a waste of time.

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Washing soda is better than bi carb and vinegar.

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hrmm seems so!..

might have to double down and do both.

One of the downpipes is a bastard so I'll put the washing soda in that first.

Thanks for the tip :)

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Bicarb and vinegar is better for a kitchen sink as you agitate the shit off the sides. You've already done that with the blaster.

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I had the bright idea of using an antifungal pump spray on the catโ€™s legs as a quicker application (because he doesnโ€™t stay still and pulls his legs away). It just scared him.

Iโ€™m feeling so stressed and trapped about the whole situation. The loss of Melbcat has severely destabilised me, I donโ€™t know how to solve this, and my own treated lesion seems to be coming back. Ignoring the cat and not helping him is not an option. Iโ€™m just going in circles here.

Iโ€™ve contacted the rescuer again. Asking if I can get some oral medication for him. Explaining my difficulties with topical. And about being unable to get help from the vet or find his owners. Asking if I would be able to treat him in the community or if I should surrender him to her organisation :(

Iโ€™m going to go put a found poster outside where I was told these alleged owners live, but itโ€™s highly possible they could have moved or just donโ€™t give a damn ๐Ÿซฉ

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just do things the easy way. ๐Ÿ‘

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

The easy way is to do nothing (no) or surrender him to the kill shelter (no). Letting this continue means I stay on the ringworm hamster wheel and that is breaking me.

Thereโ€™s no easy answer so Iโ€™m asking this lady if I can get some oral treatment for him or if I should surrender him to this rescue (which will skip the pound and take him to foster).

saw a cutie at the beach today

It's Autumn and mushie time , I saw a mouse nibbling a mushie and then dash under cover , the mushie was covered in nibbles

I also found a watch , a very waterlogged cheapie, and a few nice deep purple scallop shells
