Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

They talk about what's going on in their lives. If it weren't for the ailments, they'd likely have other things to talk about.

I can't wait until people who whine about old people get old and whine about young people.

My goal is to get older and continue supporting the youth.

[–] Itdidnttrickledown@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It seems to be a pretty uncommon goal.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

That's exactly why I cannot fail.

Nah they would just complain about the weather instead

Have you considered that all things being equal, one day you too will be old?

[–] Quilotoa@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, I'm in my 70's. I can see it coming.

I think you might have a little bit to go yet, enjoy your remaining youth!

Old is relative. When I was 10, 20 was old fart material. Now I am in my 30s, 60 or 70 seems old and I only wish I could go back to my 20s

As you get older, you'll discover that you're still 20 on the inside.

I never got above 15 or 16. And I’m nearly in my 40s

My parents don't talk about their own ailments, they talk about other people's ailments. They're pretending that they're both perfectly healthy, thankyouverymuch.

But, don't you want to hear all about this weird scar I have on my leg?

[–] Battle_Masker@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not their fault. Alzhemirs, dementia, and other such memory ailments are really hard to solve

Not to mention at least two of the ones you listed are why you'd hear the same thing 4 times in a row.
