The booking page on small hotel websites so often just refers back to their bookings.com page.

I felt bad dropping โ‚ฌ600 on a German hotel thro Expedia but that was genuinely the cheapest place, by such a margin that I couldn't afford to buy direct. The hotel wouldn't entertain it at all.

What isn't helped is the extra discount thro sites like topcashback
