He seems to be missing the point that Iran is a close ally of China. And the US absolutely wants to isolate China from its allies.

I agree, the US wants to prevent a Eurasian bloc from forming at all costs. Iran and Afghanistan are a big part of the BRI which connect China with West Asia. And that's why the US has been destabilizing the region obsessively.
Completely blind to how the petrodollar system works too, this is why people are so easily hoodwinked by Bernie Sanders' mumblings about "Netanyahu's War". He says "Iran is not very important", "aspires to be a nuclear threat" (to occupied Palestine, which they intend to reclaim), and "can only dream of being the threat Russia is". Iran is applying Russia's missile + drone warfare strategy to Israel (strategy starts in the factory, as huge gainz start in the kitchen), combined with far more aggressive financial pressure to the global economy that is shaping up to be worse than Russia sanctions + COVID combined, proportional to size it packs an unbelievable punch.
Interesting share though, I missed this despite having Unmitigated Pedantry in my history RSS feed. Watching misconceptions about Iran evolve as the media op's finale approaches is fascinating
I'm getting strong Neoliberal/Zionist vibes from the author. Was not pleasant to read their post.
Oh totally, but I find admissions from people whose biases lie with the empire are most valuable. It's not that he wants these things to happen, and cherry picking facts for the narrative. He's upset the empire is crumbling, but he has enough intellectual integrity to acknowledge that it is happening.
it's difficult to discern intellectual integrity from narrative cherry picking if you're a newbie leftist like myself.
This is where identifying the biases of the author is useful. People tend to cherry pick facts that support their existing beliefs and desires as a rule.
