I've had this camera for ~~6~~ 7 years and a few months ago I realized I needed to clean the sensor. My focus had seemed to be off and a little blurry.
I finally ordered a sensor cleaning kit that came in this morning. It worked really well and the sensor looks brand new. The camera also seems to focus properly now.

I love my Fuji XS-10. When the X-T6 comes out, I might consider making the upgrade. Mostly because I want the film style dials. The XS-10 has your standard mode and env +/- instead of dedicated shutter speed dial.
I also use my XS-10 for film negative scanning. Works really well!
I love my xt-4. My main concern looking for a camera was one function controls for your main functions, shutter speed, iso, expo balance. Plenty of cool things you can do in the menus and a few dials you can customize but your main settings are always physically available.
Meanwhile my mom asks for help with her bulky complex canon and I have no idea what's going on.

Nice! I just picked up a used Fuji x-t4 as my first and I'm learning how to do stuff, been having a blast! I've had polaroids (both OG and new), and pocket digitals, and phones of course, but this is my first "real" camera. Guess I should add sensor cleaning to the list of shit to learn how to do lol.
Just make sure you use a hand pump blower like OP. I started to use a little hand held electric one, but I looked it up and even a small electric one can cause damage. These hand pump ones are what you wanna use.
Love my xt-4. Got it for a trip to the grand canyon and got some amazing shots.
Youre going to love that camera. I would say that any camera released after 2018 is still a very capable camera even today.
If you havent learned it yet, the expsoure triangle is the most important thing to learn imo. After that is composition and lighting.
I would personally only clean the sensor when it needs it. The less you touch the actual sensor the better.

Thanks! I've watched a couple videos on the exposure triangle while I was waiting on the camera, but I've had it less than a week, and while I've had it I've just been playing with auto to familiarize myself with the camera and stuff so far, so I'm familiar with it in theory but have yet to really start messing with it myself and learning it. I will start though, soon!
I have not yet watched anything on composition or lighting so those are foreign concepts to me (beyond "light good but don't blow out whites" lol).
Yeah I'll need to learn how to clean it for sure but not right now, it seems to be doing just fine so far!
It’s a really good feeling when you eventually come around to fixing the thing that bugs you all the time. Nice!
When I used a flashlight to check the sensor after cleaning and saw pristine glass was a really great feeling.

That's a nice looking camera. Love those leather cases. Now i want one for my own camera...
Thanks :) This is actually vegtan leather that I used to replace the original rubber grip.
After about 4 years the textured rubber began to stretch. Then the rubber surrounding the back "Q" fell off, so I decided to replace all of it with real leather. I just used the old grip to trace the form and cut it out of vegtan. I applied a thin layer of E6000 and let that dry for a few mintues until it became tacky. There are areas where the leather is too short by a few millimeters but it doesn't bother me enough to remake.
You are doing it wrong. That is definitely not dull.

Out of curiosity, why the veg tan over the flash contact? Dust protection?
Also, I like the wrap for the camera. I have an late 70's Minolta that I've thought about doing a wet mold in veg tan for.
For "protection" (does it help, maybe?), the idea of aesthetics and for the fact that I always have little offcuts of leather laying around. It took about a minute to make.
Thats pretty cool, I dont own any film cameras but mostly due to the cost of film and prints. I have seen some examples of people adding leather to older cameras. It always looks great.
Gotcha! I have the same off cuts laying about in various pull ups and sundry hides. It's an excellent idea for embellishment!
The Minolta was my dad's that he had bought when I was a kid and I found it when he was moving a couple of years ago. Like with the leatherwork, I'm moving back to the tactile experiences in life. My career has been in technology, but I'm finding I'm wanting to get back in touch with the analog.

That seems like a scary task.
It’s not that scary. Camera sensors have a hard piece of glass in front of the actual sensor. The glass protects the sensor and also acts as an infrared filter.
Yeah when I realized I needed to clean it, I had to watch some videos to learn how.
I didnt want to make any mistakes. To be honest it was very simple, you only put enough pressure to slightly bend the stick and slowly move the cleaning end in one direction.
