I've realised since I started using my steam deck to go back and play a bunch of old games. I was also picking up new indie games such as Slay the Spire 2, mewgenics and hollow Knight silksong and I've realised that this console is actually never going to die, because it's just a PC. It will forever be able to render 2D games pretty happily, and I'm pretty sure Steam is going to always have a supply of new 2D games.

So unlike every other handheld console that has come before it, they will never stop being games manufactured for this console and they will never need to be a reason to upgrade unless you want to play more advanced 3D video games. I only thought about this because I was looking at buying the switch 2 and a big selling point is it's backwards compatible with the switch, but that is never going to be something you have to consider with a linux-based console.
