Chiyoshoma and Oshoumi had a good belt match in the center of the ring. Chiyo had an early (not great) trip attempt, and they both defended a throw before Chiyo succeeded with an underarm throw for his kachikoshi.
Shishi kept Tobizaru's arms locked up and used his longer reach to get a grip down the back on the belt. But Shishi's throw off that grip wasn't enough, and the Monkey put him up against the bales before pivoting for a throw of his own. Came down to a double throw attempt but Tobi came out on top as he fell out of the ring.
Shodai has Fujiseiun backpedaling off the tachiai as Fuji circles for space. When he's backed up to the bales for a kind of half utchari that gets called tsukiotoshi.
Ichiyamamoto had a big nodowa thrust off the tachiai that sent Fujinokawa stumbling back to the straw and didn't have time to recover before Ichi finished the job.
Hiradoumi and Yoshinofuji shoved each other for awhile until Hirado ends up at the edge, at which point he switched to a belt grip and drove Yoshi back but Yoshi pivoted and tossed Hirado out of the ring with a beltless throw.
Wakataka showing some nerves with a false start, then went with a henka attempt. Abi almost got a slapdown but afterwards his foot went out from under him as he circled back away. After the match WTK held his taped elbow, so he may have hurt it. WTK picked up his kk.
Gonoyama has a good initial drive against Atamifuji but couldn't close the deal, so Atami drove him all the way to the other side of the ring and out in this battle between the larger men.
Daieisho nodowa thrusted WMH back and out and the latter had no answer today.
Takanosho was driven back at first but cannily read Takayasu's drive and dodges enough to get Papa to over commit and end up on the ground.
Wild match with Oho and Kirishima as they smashed and separated right off the tachiai. Some shoving put Oho at the bales and though he recovered Kiri's throw attempt went nowhere. Bit more back and forth until a bit of a stalemate at the center. Oho tried a jump to the side that Kiri capitalized on and shoved him down and out.
WOOOOOOOO, hot match with Aonishiki and Kotozakura. Bit of some slaps off the tachiai until Koto tried a pull down which Aoni used to drive the ozeki back. Koto gets Aoni off balance and goes for another pull down which takes Aoni to the bales facing away, but before the ozeki could finish the job Aoni pivoted as he got shoved by one hand across the ring to the other side. Koto followed and Aoni circled, leaving Koto in poor position and it was just a short drive to get his one foot over the line.
before the ozeki could finish the job Aoni pivoted as he got shoved by one hand across the ring to the other side
Not just that, Aonishiki LEAPT from one part of the ring to the other and immediately established his grip (while still retreating). It was a thing of beauty. You really can't practice that.

Gonoyama Atamifuji was always gonna be like that - either Gono wins fast, or he doesn't.
Ao - Koto, and Kiri - Oho, bothe banger matches.
Kiri - Oho,

"am I yusho yet?"
that was a strange moment
there's also a friendly slap just after
Shishi’s throw off that grip wasn’t enough ... Came down to a double throw attempt but Tobi came out on top as he fell out of the ring.
That's why I think Shishi is doing so much better. Sure he lost, but it credibly could have gone either way.
Yeah he's got kind of a weird style but he's still learning and young enough to incorporate new things into his wrestling.
