Just get to making people walk around with pink triangles and gold stars on their clothing. We know your end goal. You're already building the extermination camps.

Slipping under the radar due to how hideous the rest of the bill is, it also prevents cities and counties from banning conversion therapy

Why can't trans people just be left alone and be given medical treatment?? How is this so difficult it's literally how you treat everyone else.

The GOP was always deeply fucked, but they had their brains completely broken by two things:

  1. Completely losing the culture war on gay marriage. When they were assured by their insular bubble that it would never happen, because something something "[my] [g]od don't like it and fuck you if this is a secular country, I'm used to having xtianity centered in all things". Well, that bubble popped and while normal people reacted with a yawn, because it doesn't affect anyone but those getting married, and while cons pretend to be so unbothered by it in public, it eats at them still. So they are punching down on trans at the moment, biding their time.

  2. Having a black President. They had to pretend for most of eight years to be concerned about things like long form birth certificates and BENGHAZZZZZI and tan suits and latte salutes and not wearing a tie and feet on the desk and Obama being "divisive" and ~~uppity~~, I mean, "arrogant", when they wanted to run out into the street and scream the n-word at the top of their lungs at him, really. They had to hold that shit in for the most part. Then along came Donvict to give them a permission structure to be their "retribution". Retribution for having to hold their tongue when it came to Obama, at least in mixed company.

Because of this, they spun to things like DEI and trans. They'll get back to the gays soon enough, if they are successful at rolling back anything that smacks of "DEI" and have pushed trans back into the closet and have unleashed enough violence on them.

For the younger set, they are now building resentment at women their own age that have economic autonomy and are not all that interested in dating/fucking backward chuds that want to take away their rights. That's probably the next wave of GOP awfulness we going to be dealing with - all these unfuckable assholes frustrated as hell that women have more education and possibly a better job than them.

Performative hate is central to conservative ideology.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They need the scapegoat to blame for why the masses are starving as a distraction from their looting of the coffers being the actual cause.

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." -LBJ

I think what broke their brains is that having Obama as President meant you really couldn't tell the lowest white man he was better than Obama. Obama was President. Even the stupidest among them are going to see that.

Fear is a more primal emotion than empathy.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Devil took over the GOP around 1980 or so. And I don't mean Reagan, I mean the literal guy with the horns and pitchfork. Evangelicals are almost all Devil-worshipers. Their master teaches them to hate, so they hate.

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is the fruit of Christianity. Hate and division

[–] Cosmonauticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Blaming Christianity is so disingenuous. American conservatism has always been about fear of the other. Christianity was just a convient excuse. Even before evangelical conservatism became major thing the root cause was European superiority.

This all started at the beginning of the country

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I would agree if this was an American only phenomenon, but American Christianity isnt the only flavour and it isnt the only one which propagates hate and division.

Unfortunately christianity is a religion of fear, a religion of obedience to power and might makes right, a religion of total control and dominance. In effect it embeds and empowers fascism.

[–] Cosmonauticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You can say that about every religion, political party, or social construct. The primitive part of our brains are programmed to fear what is different from us whether class, ethnicity, race, religion or even fandom. Im not even a Christian but acting like Christianity or any religion is the sole reason for this is naive.

If it wasn't religion it'd be something else

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 1 points 13 hours ago

I never said it was the sole reason. Youre attacking me for a position I neither hold nor expressed.

GOP: "Okay, let's dismantle HIPAA next!"

[–] jasoman@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

They would argue Trans people are not human and so hippa does not count. Or something just as bad.

I live in Tennessee and hate this fucking state.

I say lets have public lists of state reps that have a history of solicitation, sexual assaults, pedophilia, DUIs...every little deet thay want kept private, we should have as well. I mean...since this bill is supposedly about protecting kids, parents should be informed as to which reps to keep their kids away from.

When I was a trucker, Chattanooga made my top ten list of least favorite places.

ESPECIALLY at rush hour!

We want to see your peepee. - GOP

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 3 points 1 day ago

I should make a public list of Tennessee GOP.

[–] radio@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They want to make life so miserable for all the "undesirables" that those folks will leave the state and the fascists can keep it red a little easier. And of course they just love to hate people.

In Washington state Google keeps track of everyone with a tattoo!
