You could create a feature issue in the official Lemmy GitHub (https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues) which, if implemented, would get your feature into the officially maintained Lemmy. Then, you'd have to convince third party apps to adopt it too.

You just open an issue on github, as the other comment said: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues
You can also talk to the devs on their matrix channels, but github is simpler.
