Paramedics reported that Perrotta declined treatment in the ambulance.

“I am fine, I just needed to get out of here,” she said, according to the report. Another officer described Perrotta at the time as “visibly hysterical (crying and breathing rapidly) and had blood all over her uniform”, the report said.

The donut eating piece of refuse refused treatment once inside the ambulance and kinda just ignored that a dying person needed it more.

Classic ACAB.

You really don't act rationally when you're having a panic attack, but this is on the other police just as much for not being able to talk someone back down to earth, it can be as simple as talking them through squared breathing and wrigging their toes, I close my eyes and imagine my loved ones smiling at me

Sorry dunno why i'm defending pigs, I've copped too much shit for needing to 'just calm down' I guess

I think we've seen with cops over and over again that, to them, the rational thing is making sure the victim doesn't survive, and thus, taking away their ability to testify.

It literally could have gone down that stupidly, but also, it smacks of "Is he dead yet? No? Perrotta—make the first ambulance go away however you have to."

im done with lemmy for a long while as of this post. I realize you cant just bury your head in the sand, but lemmy finds every horrible thing and thats essentially the entire timeline. individual communities don't have enough activity to be worth checking very often imo.

this cop took an ambulance to get out of there after someone was shot. great. now I know this shitty thing happened. this is just a "here's another thing that happened on the other side of the world that'll make you feel hopeless and despondent. ive had enough for real.

i used to doom scroll a lot because i also had a generally hopeless and despondent feeling like you're having right now.

lemmy taught me that the indoctrination that i received as a liberal born and raised in the united states left me unable to contextualize and understand the onslaught of horrible things happening all over this planet every day. it gave me the intellectual guidelines and tools that showed me how to analyze and appreciate what's happening in this world so that i can stop doom scrolling.

here's an updated and shortened list of what i've been learning: https://lemmy.ml/post/43309494

other side of the world

In this case avoiding news from the United States of America is an easy fix as this community is literally called "usa@lemmy.ml". It's very easy to block.
