Baby boomers, often shortened to boomers, are the demographic cohort preceded by the Silent Generation and followed by Generation X. The generation is often defined as people born from 1946 to 1964. These years span the mid-20th-century baby boom that followed the end of World War II. The dates, the demographic context, and the cultural identifiers may vary by country. Most boomers are the parents of Generation X and Millennials.

As much shit we talk about Boomers in the US (justifiably so IMHO), nothing compares to the removed I've heard from Chinese younger Millenials and Zoomers about their Boomers. If you think about it, the cultural differences between a Chinese Boomer and a Chinese Gen-Z must be mind boggling.

i'm not knowledgeable on the subject but the little i know makes me think that they're not comparable: Boomers in PRC didn't have the occasion to gobble everything (profiting from the WWII destruction)??

Oh, no comparison is implied. The only similarity is the date range.

Chinese boomers had to live through extreme changes that Chinese Gen-Z cannot possibly comprehend in any way other than academically. American Boomers just consumed the world.
