My father just drilled the maple trees around his sugar shack. Due to the weather and the conditions, the trees produced a bit today and will also produce tomorrow. However it's probably going to freeze again next week during daytime so they will stop producing for a few days.
But after the next week, the maple syrup and taffy season should be coming in full force. If there's any snow left.
One unfortunate side of climate change is that the snow cover now tends to melt sooner in the spring, leaving us with lots of syrup but sometimes no snow.
