I'm a fan of referring to them as beg buttons, a term that I was introduced to through Not Just Bikes on YouTube

i dont care if they work, I'll always jaywalk and when I'm on the other side if it works I press the button and go about my way so I slow down the next traffic for fun

Where I live, pedestrians are always right. Doesn't make me jump in traffic (because if you don't want to die, you have to wait) but it's a good thing IMO. Jaywalking? Get rid of that lunacy ffs.
