Be a shame if the US Navy lost access to the Mediterranean. The Ansar Allah have shown that the US Navy can be stopped at choke points, and the Strait of Gibraltar is only 15 kilometers wide at its narrowest. Technically, you cannot enter the Mediterranean without passing thru Spanish territorial waters.

At least I lived long enough to watch the death of NATO; not thru war, not thru Russian aggression, but thru an idjit in the Out House. The Tangerine Torquemada's greatest achievement and he won't even get credit for it.

Maybe my knowledge is completely obsolete but wasn't Gibraltar under UK control?

British Gibraltar is actually not located at the narrowest section. It is Spain that can say "I can see Morocco from my front porch."

Yeah it is. It's such a narrow pass though that Spain doesn't have to have control of the very tip to make the strait impassable.

As a former global colonialist superpower itself, Spain knows better then most what the US and it's mini-me are doing and exactly what their intentions are.

Logistically speaking, how would that work? Isn’t the whole point of being in a single market to prevent this exact sort of economic singling out?

I can't imagine that Trump actually understands the concept.

"Spain, you know that country you've been vehemently/somewhat opposed to in the Middle East for their crimes against humanity? Well during negotiations with Iran, it started a war with them, one that has Iran pounding locations around the Middle East, and like, you'll laugh, but there's a very funny favor you could do for them and us!"
