Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

No wonder everyone wants to hold onto being a kid in the US, its the only time you matter to our money loving only overlords and they are marketing everything towards you to make you feel good about it.

Clothing variety is aimed at child and teen sizes and becomes standard designs or highend at adult sizes.
Toys and food items are too.
As you get older less is expected of you financially.

Either you come from a family where you get everything you want and expect more or you have nothing and you are expected to put yourself in debt the moment you have control to catch up to your generation.
You either miss out and they hope you want in or are already addicted by the time you are an adult.
And worst of all they teach you the smart thing to do is to spend money that isn't yours.

The USA is a child loving society.

It is the failure of a system of inherited wealth. Intelligence is not hereditary in humans. Inherited wealth has no meritocratic order. A lack of meritocracy is terminal cancer. Any inheritance beyond a trust fund for life covering an upper middle class life is the issue. Solve this one issue and it removes every problem name you know. Japan already solved this problem politically. You do not know the names of any Japanese problem billionaires. It is not a coincidence.

Yeah. Inherit a house, not a company you don't know how to run just because your grandfather did.

Got to start that consumer mindset when their brains are knowledge sponges.

That does seem to be the goal. And then make you pay as you get older to keep that feeling alive. Don't change, stay the same and be rewarded with a treat of buying something you would want as a kid.

Oh god don't get me started on just giving an unlimited credit card on the account and somehow being shocked they spent thousands
