I recently found this place/lemmygrad and I am so glad that I did. I had recently gotten banned from what I thought was a leftist forum for questioning the propaganda against DPRK and was honestly kinda lost for a while before this place. I've not posted before (until this one) but it's been vital for having me informed on the state of the world without being influenced by imperialistic bias.

Planning a 2200 km pilgrimage takes quite some effort, it turns out. Nonetheless exciting times ahead.
Political wise it's quite, I guess? Next week there is a general strike in Belgium and a huge turnout is expected. And we have the 8th of march, of course. Though that's a Sunday, which lessens its publicity.
Also looking forward to get out of this job. I've seen a lot of weird things happen and everytime you think: well this has to be the most weird thing to happen, only for a guy to piss through our mailbox today. People really can be animals.
Some of the places that are getting brought up in the megathread, like Bahrain, are really making me feel I need an ML crash course in what all is actually in the region and its recent (decades) history. There's a decent amount I know, but I'm realizing how limited it is.
What is happening in Bahrain is what it will look like when the imperialist presence weakens in every country of this world (it will be more prominent in the weakest links in the Global North and the Global South). That's why it is important to organize.
Opportunities for a revolution like Bahrain will keep appearing as long as the imperialists power declines.

for the most part i think i mentally block it out from being anomalous since it's largely just par for the course for mainstream social media, reddit is the opposite of an exception. it's just the stray commenter that gets there and starts talking about "You're just as bad as Israel for hating Israel" oh my god bruh. but you will, indeed, find them on like, every single post, so i think people just tune it out and forget that on other platforms like lemmygrad you wont find that sort of thing
I don't think I've ever followed a war this closely before. It's kinda surreal, especially with the hits the empire is taking. I'm not sure it's the best thing for me though, how closely I'm following it; my abnormally anxious tendencies probably make it more nerve-wracking to follow. But also, it's like, this seems like a turning point of one kind or another, so maybe I'm right to be anxious. If Iran can manage to shatter the empire's hold in the region or even significantly weaken it, that's huge, but I still fear the opposite too. It sure seems like it is, in some ways, an existential fight for the independence of the region from western imperialism and the survival of the region against the nakedly barbaric onslaught of zionist colonialism. In that sense, I guess it is all the more reason to trust that Iran has a plan and is taking the stakes here very seriously. And to do what I can, however small, to further the fight of anti-imperialism.

I think on Lemmygrad this is being handled pretty well, the comrades here are being careful with what they share and appropriately skeptical over untrustworthy sources, but over on the other Newsmega i constantly see commenters far too often take rumors or news that just broke in the MSM at face value until someone explicitly debunks it - our modus operandi should be the opposite of that.

It's really funny that "dark woke" Azov Something did a really thrash video giving horribly thrash dating advice while complaining that "the Left" failed "young men" (by not indulging their reactionary need to prove themselves as men through pick up artistry), when three years ago Shaun already did an actually quite good video giving advice for young men, including dating advice but also a lot of general self-growth advice. It's like the embodiment of left-aesthetic reactionaries in video form, absolutely refusing to feel uncomfortable with their own internalised misogyny, pampering their male egos, and thinking they're cured of all it just by declaring themselves "dark woke" or some other inane shit. He even opens the "advice" section pretending it isn't solely dedicated to heterosexual men, like non-het non-male dynamics are just drop-in replacements. In Portuguese we even have a word for this kind of redwashed pick up artist, "Esquerdomacho" (lefto-male? "Sexism" in Portuguese is "machismo" so the word has that connotation too).
It's gross, and the attached 91-page lefto-PUA manual is extra gross, but also funny in how bizarre it is. I feel every paragraph is huge screenshot-worthy "WTF". Like "first dates only from Monday to Thursday"? My guy, what do you think is the point of weekends for employed people? Dreadful stuff.
