These are the FM20 headphones by FIO MOTUS, my mom ordered these off Amazon. And I had to get them in my favorite color, purple.

They fit comfortably on my head, and even though I feel like I have a big head, I didn't have extend them much at all for them to fit.

The sound quality is great. These are actually good noise cancelling, which is great because I live by myself in an apartment complex and the walls are thin. And I'm currently watching tv whilst wearing them and I cant hear anything else.

And they charge fast: apparently 10 minutes of charging can give you 12 hours of playtime. We'll see how true that rings, but so far I am enjoying my new headphones.

Why does this read like an ad?
Why are specifically mentioning Amazon (especially on thr fediverse)?

This is the autism community. Don't be surprised if this is just someone genuinely sharing their experience, but sounding "like a robot" talking about it.

I've literally talked like OP before and sounded like an ad read. Lol.

You may be right, but you may also be wrong.

I am on the spectrum as well.

But to me this reads heavily product focused and less like "Hey fellow community, I got great ANC headphones and wanted to share how I feel".

Both are totally valid but this read to me like stealth marketing

I don't think this reads as an ad 🤷🏾‍♀️

Moms are the best.

I imagine that 12 hrs is only with noise cancelling turned off. You can probably safely expect about a third less runtime with it on.

Why is that? Does the noise cancelling process pull a lot more power? Or is there something I’m missing? Also 8 hours is still pretty good.

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah active noise cancelling basically is constantly running a little DAC/signal processor as opposed to signal -> output so there’s constant computation to make the noise cancelling happen

Thanks. That makes sense

I hate to border on sounding like a shill, but I have had really good luck with fiio devices. I bought 2 different Bluetooth headphone amps and an mp3 player. All of them have hit above their price point and the things I dislike about them are small details (specifically, I want a better eq on the mp3 player and one of the headphone amps was glass sided with predictable results).

I got a set of open back planars from them just to try. 100 bucks for planars is absurd so I had low expectations. I like having background noise but need to be aware of my surroundings a bit (dog gets into mischief). They are simply solid all around. Damn things sound better than my beryllium driver ones… Well built, comfortable, pads held on by Velcro so they are replaceable. And they fold! So I’m definitely a shill now.

Awesome, what did you have before? I've generally found the only noise canceling that actually works is usually Bose, though I don't really like their headphones, otherwise. Especially considering the price. But their noise cancelation is top notch. Even eliminates most engine noise on an airplane. But I love my Klipsh headphones for sound, just the noise canceling is not even half as good as Bose. The other nice thing is the battery lifespan, not talking how long it lasts before charge, but the fact that I've charged them so many times and they still hold several hours of charge with noise canceling turned on. That's usually what gets you on the cheaper devices is the bad battery longevity. Wish Bose made some really good drivers and not the crappy rattly bass tuned junk they use so I could have the best of both worlds in one headset.

The brand i had before was called ZIHNIC. And they were okay for 25 bucks. But it eventually stopped charging and eventually died forever.

My new headphones cost a little more, about $45, still cheaper than bose but much better bang for your buck imo.

Thanks. Handy to know.

I'm still on my first pair of noise cancelling headphones. The "cheap"[est] Bose ones (^around that same price). They do a fair job of noise cancelling [~ though not great enough to immunise me from SensoryProcessingDisorder triggers]. But I have nothing else to compare to. Have been considering making a big investment for their more expensive ones that I've seen get great reviews.
