Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

I'm the one who did the dishes, cleaning, groceries, kids, after I cleaned she would make a mess then yell at me for being a slob and not keeping the house clean, also I worked full-time. When the dishwasher broke she blamed me because I'm the only one who loaded/unloaded it. when I fixed it with proof it wasn't my fault, it was still my fault.

abusive relationships really mess with your senses of reality.

That's painful to read. Hope you are able to untangle yourself from that mess.

Did you manage to get out?

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 month ago

Not the person you replied to, but I did. She's been trying to get me back ever since, despite living with her new boyfriend. He's as abusive as she is but she needs him for his car so I keep telling her she's met her perfect match and I'm not coming between them lol

[–] toast@retrolemmy.com 7 points 1 month ago

I did - almost 10 years ago. Still think about it all the time

I think one of the issues couples have with cleaning is that everyone has different schedules and approaches

I never clean during weekdays, sorry but work fucks me up and when I come home I want all relaxation

When the weekend starts after my Saturday morning I'll go on a quick cleaning binge, and then Sunday night I do another clean binge and repeat

I think, there are some things that can't "wait", dishes, always after meal. I never want to arrive in my kitchen and it's full of dirty dishes.

The issue is people assume their way is the only right way and when someone does it differently they interpret it as lazy or malicious, rather than responding with humility and trying to find out how their partner thinks.

My trick is to do the chores first, then with any leftover time I can do whatever I want guilt free.

[–] Aqarius@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (2 children)

leftover time

[–] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

I know, when are chores ever done? If I didn’t allot free time for myself I’d never have any.

Yeah, I got a similar trick. I just never get tired, bored, or distracted. You should try that!

But you still have to somewhat wash them before they go in the dishwasher.

The easy fix TL;DW (though you should, Alex is great) is to, right before starting the dishwasher, run the hot water until the tap is as hot as it gets. Drastically improved outcomes.

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 12 points 1 month ago

I took away from his video it's to put detergent in both spots because there's two rinses. The running to get hot is just cherry on top to help more

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 6 points 1 month ago

Also clean the filter in the bottom. Do not forget proper maintenance or you'll just be cursing him for not listening to advice he does give.

[–] siskourso@odin.lanofthedead.xyz 7 points 1 month ago (9 children)

I switched off of pods a few years ago to just dishwashing liquid soap and it has been better.

Only sometimes. Just put everything in as is and hand wash what doesn't come out clean. This applies more to newer washers rather than the old ones that just redistribute the filth.

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I remove solids, especially vegetable matter, cell walls and all that. But mainly a fork over the garbage, and on some occasions a light rinse.

And I've seen every TC video there is. Even made a patron account just to sub to him. But I could never get the desired result from dishwasher dust, and so I'm a pod man, and I'm happy with what I see, and that's that.

Be @FuyuhikoDate@feddit.org.

Finds a comic strip that i don’t like.

This must be before my time, I must make my opinion known to all.

Proceeds to publicly talk down on the comic for being ”old and out of touch”.

Realizes Arc Raiders released in 2025.

Shit.

Alternatively, is too young to be married.

Ack no, not in my house. I cook, husband does the dishes usually. I clean the dishwasher filter, maintain the machine and tell him not to clean the dishes before they go in. He doesn't usually wash my cast iron because he was messing it up (which is not easy to do but he managed it) but all the regular dishes and most of the pots & pans are his world because he wants me to cook.

[–] emb@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (3 children)

There's an old Mitch Hedberg joke that goes something like "This shirt is dry clean only, which means... it's dirty"

I think the same applies exactly for dishes that aren't dishwasher safe. I have a dishwasher but my sink still has a pile of dishes waiting.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

" I like to buy things to make my life easier. I also like to buy other things that don't work with the first things to make my life harder again."

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Simply only buy dishes that are dishwasher safe.

My wife goes into complete reading trance when she gets her hands on a new novel. Nothing will get done until that book is finished. Any response will be delayed until the next chapter.

[–] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I have learned to stop anywhere in a book and it helps a lot with chores. My condolences to your wife for her addiction.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

I’m gonna assume that the oopsies person has a job and is just on their day or hours off.

[–] Harvey656@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Uh, I do the dishes and the gaming and the laundry and vacuum and...

But she's hot and makes more money, so its all good.

[–] Retail4068@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I do 75% of the house work. Fuck this dated noise.Β

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago (13 children)

Oh chill out. The entire premise of this strip is that the guy in the third panel usually DOES do the dishes. Don't be so fragile and masculine.

The opposite is normally true for my SO and I. They will still accuse me of making the mess but once I sort things into piles and show the mess is from them they are always very surprised.

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

That would only serve to piss off my SO.

Is it a bad sign that I instantly recognized ARC raiders?

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago

My wife says im pretty good with these things over other guys shes known. My main thing is hey if im doing dishes or laundry its because it needs to be done and other things I might do get pushed down. Im unemployed right now though so not much of an issue of having time.
