I have an aging phone, the Samsung Note10+ (since it's release).

The Note10+ has been amazing (and apart from the loss of updates, remains 'pretty good'). But after nearing 7 years, with the S26Ultra release, I'm finally at that "Old Faithful deserves a rest" stage...

The Note10+ has a raised camera island. A tiny one.

No. Problem.

Almost any case flattens the back on the Note10+ - mine is a two-part Spigen. It's got some grip, bumpers, exposed ports, and enough of a lip that I can lie the phone on its face with confidence (and never a screen protector).

I like the case. I like the device.

And I like to lie it on its back - a lot. Enthusiastically jabbing and swiping with finger or stylus? Nary a noticeable jiggle or wobble.

Β

The S26Ultra has a camera continent, not an island - and the cases I've spotted seem determined to accentuate it.

  • Am I am outlier with lie-flat usage?

  • Are there confirmed case-solutions coming to reign-in this raised ridge of rocking rage-bait?

  • Are there S26Ultra alternatives I should be looking at (sorry I'm Android only, to my brother's dismay I think)?

Yes I know that means giving up the stylus - but then they killed remote shutter that I use occasionally (and yes I know that does make me an outlier).

Β

(I am looking forward to 7 generations of camera hardware and software imaging improvements... but...)

I justbwish that they would make the whole phone thicker to match the camera sticking out.

Put some more battery in there.

The visor on Pixels works for me. I've got a P8Pro that's going strong. It lies flat, without a wobble.

Two comments pointing in a pixelated direction... Gotta be something to that..

Thanks.

I mean they're just the best, in my opinion, and that's almost nothing to do with hardware, and everything to do with software.

They have GrapheneOS support, which is why I got mine. Their hardware warranty isn't terrible, which is good, because Google is kinda bad at making reliable hardware. It usually works, but there's enrough epeated complaints about issues that you need to take it into account.

Good luck on your search!

Also have two Pixels, one 6 and one 9 Pro, both lie flat on surfaces.

The Pixel 9a and 10a lie flat without a case.

I had a trusty note as well around that generation, they were truly some of the best phones, eh? I upgraded to the Moto G Stylus to have a modern take on the form factor
