They started rough and now they're not. I'll separate out all the large and small pieces for other batches and start adding grit and ceramic balls to the mix.

Huh, neat. I'm curious about the residue, are there sharp chips in there? How fine is it?

At that point the only sharp chips were recently knocked off. Otherwise it's little pebbles.

Great question because I do filter the slurry. I passed it slurry through a 400mesh filter, most of it went through and I don't have finer filters to check. I use the powder for paint making.

The top one with the swatch is a mix of quartz and iron oxide. The bottom is mostly amethyst with other agates in the mix.
