I'm still patiently waiting for a 3D VR voxel based falling sand engine type game. There are a couple of interesting projects working towards that goal and technology helps make the cubes smaller and smaller from minecraft to something more like cube world with more material interactions.
Patient Gamers
A gaming community free from the hype and oversaturation of current releases, catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. Whether it's price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don't meet the system requirements, or just haven't had the time to keep up with the latest releases.

A playable PC version of RE4. It finally happened, but it took them long enough.
More future patience... but Ys X Nordics.
Given the bullshit about releasing a better version of the game for full price just a year after the first release I'll be waiting a long time until it's on a decent sale price before I give them any money.
I would probably say Withering Rooms. I've been super interested in it since it released but have managed to restrain myself to wait for a deep(er) sale.
Nobody mentioned Megaman X Corrupted? Really?
The Mass Effect series, LA Noire, and Sonic Frontiers are all examples of games where I am waiting for DRM-free versions.
Sonic Frontiers had its DRM forcibly removed in January. 🏴☠️
Beyond Good & Evil 2?
Rimworld.
It's on my list of games to play and steam will recommend it at least once a day but I just haven't purchased it yet.
I'm waiting for Civilization VII's first expansion to come out before buying the base game, as that's usually the time when a Civ game has had all the problematic bugs and balancing issues worked out.
Same thing I came here to say.
I got the itch and played a campaign on 6 last week and was thinking about what 7 would need for me to buy it...and the answer is an expansion and a deep discount. The feature changed are kinda meh to me
Or maybe hearing that all the buggy stuff that bugs me about 6 is fixed.
We waited for Hytale to be released for 7 or 8 years. Worth the wait though
Super Mario Run on the iPhone. I won’t buy it until it goes on sale and, since it’s Nintendo, it’ll never go on sale.
Well, when I get gta 6 that will probably take the cake. I dont have a ps5 yet, and money is tight ish, so no rush for me. I know the game has diminishing returns for an old head like me, but fuck I love that franchise. I literally started with overhead view, pixelated, pc version (one or two?) , playing 1v1 (occasionally 2vcomp) with a high school buddy with cracked version on dial up.
Too date tho.... iv gotten some great steam deals, but thats cause i put everything on the want list and grab a sale when that game suits my mood. Specifically waiting tho, thats harder. Maybe wii era mario, i waited for the wii to be cheaper, but paid almost full price for mario galaxy.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I am a big classic mythology nerd, but I got Valhalla as a present and I want to finish it first, yet life keeps getting in the way.
Silksong, as I had to wait until the evening after its release day to play it.
But seriously, probably baldurs gate 3. Been keeping an eye on it since I got a half decent PC a few years ago, never been discounted enough to seriously consider for me.
Rdr2. Still waiting for a fps patch on console (most powerful machine I possess)
I want to grab mgsv when it drops below $20. $20 for a 2015 title feels a bit steep.
