Hi. I have been banned form Tankie Jerk at piefed.social

No wonder there. I asked how they defined tankie and fun followed. But:

I am trying to understand how piefed differs from lemmy and how people end up on piefed?

I asked how they defined tankie

It's always just a vague "those authoritarian regime supporters" which is a definition that literally all major communist groups will fit into if you're talking about either the USSR or China or any AES. They'll always present it in the vaguest way possible so that to the uninitiated it sounds like there are some communists who don't fit into it when in reality that's not the case at all, the people who don't realise that are the target of an attempt to try and prevent them from moving further leftwards.

Trots support the USSR post-Stalin and even trotsky says he'd have done everything stalin did. MLs obviously support both China and USSR and AES, maoists support USSR and pre-Deng China. This is 99% of communists fitting the definition.

I think it's vagueness that irks me the most and that is why I ask everytime. Reactionaries always do this shit and leave the burden of argument with their opposition. Asking them for definitions smacks the ball back in their court. I just find it funny they didnt even bother the say anything, but went straight to the ban hammer.

The vagueness is a necessary component to ensure people think "tankie" is a different thing to "communist". They want to define all communists as tankies while simultaneously making less aware people believe that there are communists who are not tankies. Then the baby left people try to be the "good" communists who aren't tankies. The propaganda relies on it.

That's all they can do, for all their screaming about tankies being a "echo chamber" they absolutely cannot, will not, ever tolerate an opinion different from their own, even asking questions about and potentially casting doubt on their opinions is enough to get them frothing at the mouth with rage.

What I don't understand about piefed is if they needed an instance full of shit libs they already had lemmy.world, now theres just two of them

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 15 points 14 hours ago

It's always funny when shitlibs are like "now that we've kicked out everybody to the left of Kissinger this space sucks for some reason. Certainly not because of me and people who shar my beliefs who now make up 100% of the space. Clearly the answer is another identical space with a fresh coat of paint and all the same moderating and policy practices.

It's like the opposite of how they ruined reddit then when commies saved them by creating a better alternative avoiding all the problems of reddit their top priority was desperately trying to turn it back into reddit.

Some libs were just mad as hell they were still using software written by eViL tAnKiEs I guess

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 8 points 16 hours ago

PieFed was developed by an anti-communist that abhored the views of Lemmy's communist developers, and so decided to make a rather shoddy clone of Lemmy with new anti-features like a social credit score. People go to PieFed because it is either a protest against communism, or because they need specific tools PieFed has that Lemmy currently does not.

[–] WereHacker@lemmy.ml 9 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

That was the vibe I got, but I wasn't sure and some people are writing about it, like it is lemmy 2.0. Most of the /c/ seems pretty much like Lemmy or maybe Reddit back in the day, but from time to time weird stuff pops up. Like tankie jerk. And well, I asked them to define tankie and won a free ban :)

Thank you. I only wish I had gotten an answer. I still don't know what it means. I suppose it's like woke for conservatives. And I do visit the two T-34's on the memorial for the fallen soviet troops in Berlin when I get the chance. I mean I am easily a tankie in their opinion, but I will ask for a definition everytime I hear the word

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 1 points 8 hours ago

Yep, it's basically a pejorative for communist.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 33 points 18 hours ago

Piefed is for people who didn't think lemmy.world was reddity enough.

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 30 points 17 hours ago

Piefed has built-in authoritarianism to protect you from the evil authoritarians.

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 11 points 15 hours ago

Piefed? Like taking yummy seriously?

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 22 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Piefed is for people who want to be in a CIA echo chamber, mostly

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 7 points 16 hours ago

i suspect that piefed's creator was helped by the powers that be and he thinks that he pulled himself up by his boot straps.
