They didn't disqualify themselves. The IOC disqualified them

I think the IOC is the Israeli government oversight.

They seem to be mad that the Israeli team tried to let their Druze reservist participate.

My understanding is they got caught trying to pretend one of the team was unwell so they could swap a team member. They got caught and "disqualified" themselves. Either way they tried cheating and "withdrew" before being disqualified

The Olympic Committee of Israel disqualified them, not the International Olympic Comittee.

But the genocide didn't disqualify the whole country.

I guess having two country's athletes compete under the neutral flag would actually make it more meaningful, rather than everyone referring to the athletes as Russian anyway.

They were in last place, anyway. Israel's Olympic committee disqualified them. So, "they disqualified themselves" is an accurate enough statement. Not the team members, but not the broader IOC, either.

Only the IOC can disqualify a team. If they "withdrew" then they still weren't disqualified by themselves
