I'm playing PEASANT REPUBLIC FLORENCE trying to spread PEASANT IMPERIALISM (I own all of Tuscany from the Papal States up to Lucca) and I've been prestigemaxxing the ENTIRE GAME just so that I can ask the HRE to make me a Duchy

well guess what? there's been no Holy Roman Emperor for like 20 fucking years now! like literally since the start of the dang game! ahhhh!

Maybe it's too early in the morning, but this is the first time I've seen a game and gone "nah, that's too much bullshit for me to keep track of."

I know you can get too old for the shooty shooty bang zoom kind of games, but am I now too old for spreadsheet games? I spent probably hundreds of hours in 3 and 4 and yet have 0 interest in checking out 5. What is happening to me?

same, I haven't tried any of the newer games; breeder kings 3, communitoria 3 or blobropa colonialis 5.

i love slow and intricate single player sim/strategy games but every time i've tried to play one "game" of paradox I haven't been able to "finish" (make it to the end of the timeline) before they release some expansion that makes old saves unplayable.

i've tried to play eu4 many many times and tried to get little sugar islands in the caribbean or tried to make an asian country survive against the western devils and just can't make it to the 1700s

I enjoyed stellaris but I tried a game of theirs similar to this complexity (Vicky 3 I think?), had my brain rotated with the tutorial's complexity, and noped out.

Maybe if I'd been drawn to spreadsheet games like this when I was younger I'd have more patience, but nope, ain't nobody got time for this.

PEASANT IMPERIALISM

i think you already know what needs to be done. let the crowned heads of europe be reaped like so many grains, into an ignoble heap

-100k whatever for all the electors seems odd. Gotta say, paradox seems to be slipping with recent releases. Vicky 3 and this were just busted on launch, but I remember CK3 being solid.

also I would say it's mostly fixed in the 1.1.5 beta patch, except there's stuff going on like automated trade just not using my trade capacity for some reason

Im a republic so a stupid number that means they won't vote for me makes sense at least

still waiting on the new patch to fix a bunch of shit before i dive back in, HRE is supposedly fixed on beta branch so you could always give that a go (i never play in europe so idk), but it does suck to lose a bunch of progress in a slow ass game to some bugs cuz paradox. u could try updating to the beta branch and loading ur save anyway, see what happens.

(i never play in europe so idk

also just sayin' but if you play florence or dithmarschen you can be a peasant republic and pretend you're doing communism

sounds fun, might try that when the patch hits officially.

I'm playing the beta, this is just bad luck
