Kia ora te whānau

I have been on a journey of getting away from big tech these last few years. I've started self hosting and become increasingly critical of a centralized internet are large digital monopolies.

That being said, there's parts of social media I really enjoy. I've always favoured reddit over facebook and insta but I don't like that way reddit is going. So I've deleted my account and signed up to Lemmy.

I'm so thrilled there is a kiwi sublemmy.

Really pleased to be here. I hope this community grows

Have a lovely weekend folks

Hello! I'm not a Kiwi, but I studied abroad there 21 years ago! ugh that's a long time. I'd like to come back and visit your beautiful country again. Maybe do the Routeburn Track in earnest. Made it to like the first hut since we were short on time. Is Tui still delicious beer or is it just my youthful tastebuds being nostalgic? Anyway, enjoy your sensible leadership while I suffer away in the last vestiges of the U.S. Sorry our ridiculous billionaires are trying to build bunkers over there.

Beer taste is way too subjective to say 😅

But if you do a hike first it'll have a much better chance of tasting as good as you remember 😉

Hey mate. Tui, sadly, tastes pretty awful these days. I used to like it, but my tastes... matured as i suspect yours probably have to 😀. Our leadership is far from sensible, but we are pretty lucky as far as things go I guess. Youre welcome back anytime

Kia ora!

I stopped drinking afew years ago as it got me into too much trouble but I'm sure if you come back and try it again it will taste as good as you remember it.

Unfortunately our political situation is much less desirable than it was previously. We just gotta grin and bare it.

Come back and do the track. Hope to see you here some time. It's a beautiful country
