USA’s demand that Europe has to take care of its own defence, was never about Europe having to take care of its own defence.

Is the goal to increase independence for Europe or suffering of US companies? Wouldn't the success of European defense companies be a better metric here?

Maybe the MIC should have thought about this before Trump ruined literally everything. They had a good thing going, selling to literally every country on earth barring a few.
