A community for gardening in the UK (just a bit local due to the climate and local based fauna, not trying to exclude anyone). It would be great to see your personal projects on design, seeding, planting, or just chatting about your latest garden activities.

No Selling or Promoting. This is a hobby community this isn't a spot to promote your product or grow your brand. If you mention tools or plants, that’s ok, we all use them and are often curious of results, but please ensure it helps the the community. Show Us Your Stuff: Pictures and tips are very welcome. Don’t be scared to share your guides. If posting pics maybe create a post with many rather than an image a post.
Let’s keep the discussions easy-going and respectful. Privacy matters and what we share here should be supportive and encouraging. Grow flowers. Grow others!

Just a small plea to consider hedgehogs when planning your gardens. Hedgehog numbers have halved in the UK since the year 2000 and a few little considerations can be a big benefit.

A few little notes for helping hedgehogs to thrive.

  1. Access - If you have a fence without any gaps, allow for 1 or more holes near the bottom of the fence around 15cm around to let hedgehogs to enter your garden to find food. If you just have hedges as a boundary, great!
  2. Water - A bowl of water or a pond. Ensure any ponds have ramps that a hedgehog can walk out of if they fall in.
  3. Food - Attract beatles and insects with a deadwood pile. Also cat food can be a good supplement for them if left in a feeding station. Do not leave in a hedgehog home. You don't want to attract predators while they are hibernating.
  4. Toxins - Avoid slug pellets or chemicals in your gardens. These will make wildlife sick.
  5. Shelter - Provide a hedgehog home for breeding and hibernating
