General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

A new party has entered Britain's political scene to the right of Nigel Farage's Reform UK, declaring that "millions must go" and pledging a ban on halal and kosher slaughter.

The far-right Restore Britain party was launched on Friday night in Great Yarmouth by former Reform MP Rupert Lowe and has been endorsed by Elon Musk.

Lowe, a millionaire businessman and farmer who used to be chairman of Southampton FC, released an "immigration policy", which he called "deportation poetry", over the weekend.

He pledged to close off visa routes for "Albania, Pakistan, Somalia, Eritrea, Afghanistan and plenty more".

Considering that Lowe has the charisma of wet cardboard I can't see them being much of a threat to reform unless Farage kicks the bucket (perhaps is caught whatever Trump has)

"Elon Musk helps to launch ridiculous double-far-right party, to make his friend Nigel's actual far-right party seem reasonable by comparison"

As if that Nazi is only playing double Nazi as a complicated scheme.

As if we can take for granted that this agenda won't be enforced.

Reform --> Restore --> Racist

Leaving the EU wasn't enough. The real problem is within us. Not just the immigrants, but the dirty immigrant lovers!

Once we have forced all the foreigners out and cut off all interactions with Europe and the rest of the world we can finish isolating our youth and snuffing out their future. We can then enslave them for our benefit in useless jobs they will hate.

You see, we just want to Make United Kingdom the Same Again! MUKSA!

I feel like the movie isn’t even that old!

Why is Eritrea brought up so much? It's teeny tiny.

Also, why has Afghanistan been the hotspot for violence for all of human history?

Afghanistan absolutely hasn't been a hot spot for violence (relative to the rest of the world) for all of human history but Russian and British imperialism and the rivalry between the two Great powers from the 18th-20th centuries and the exploitation that came with it caused internal strife, political instability, vast inequality and religious extremism.

Might as well go as far back as Alexander the great or Persia The region has chewed up every empire that's ever step foot in it.

Because there's an extreme amount of imperialism in Eritrea leading to a lot of refugees and therefore easy victim blaming

Afghanistan is located pretty centrally in Asia so there's a lot of imperialism passing through there.
