My biggest regret is not getting a whole crate of 2TB intel SSDs when they were going for $70. "Surely, this is a sign that prices are just getting better and better!"

Rocking 64GB on my desktop after an opportunistic upgrade a couple of years ago and barely using 32GB most of the time

Mine has 48GB. Started with 16, but a few years ago the pc started crashing/freezing randomly. I assumed it was because of bad ram, so I just bought a new set of 32GB, since it was pretty cheap, but the crashes continued after switching to the new ram. So I added the old 2x8gb sticks back in and now I have 48.
Turned out it was the cpu that was bad.
I had 32 GB of ddr4 3200 speed Corsair.
About a year ago I found a new in box 32GB Corsair exact same set of ram I had at a bin store and bought it for a whopping.... $5.
I have no need for 64GB, but even a year ago $5 ram was just way too cheap to not buy.
Same here. Should have went for two 2 To SSDs instead of one too by the looks of it...

Maybe browser devs will take this opportunity to start working towards memory optimizations. That’s where the majority of my memory goes and that includes Electron apps.
Did you say you wanted "more agentic AI experiences"? Right away, my good sir!
I feel like the art and interest in optimisation has been almost lost. When we made performance gains it was seen as an opportunity to bloat operating systems and websites, or simply neglect to optimise them.
Remember when auto playing videos were a massive no no? Now that nono is not muting your auto play videos. Not to mention a single website running hundreds of trackers.
I actually think it might get even worse as more and more software will be written by AI.
Apple was ahead of the curve I guess
I just had to replace some ram I bought 5 years ago. I would've normally expected the price to have dropped 50% in that time if not more. Instead it went up like 40%.
Yeah, that's why i just download more ram as I need it. It's cheap too.
I just upgrade my paging size by a few gb every year. The warning can be ignored.
1tb drive, this guys page file 800gb
Built a homelab last year. Told myself "ehh skimp on the ram you can upgrade that later"
Right? Always has been the way I've thought about ram
Getting a 128 gb machine earlier this year maybhave been a once in a lifetime purchase.
It's because the SteamDeck 2 is on the way right?? Right?????
Yeah. That's it. Go to sleep now, sweetie.
It's because "The Ides of March: Et Tu Edition" is on its way
It would certainly make sense to stop producing an old model to save components for the manufacture of the new ones.
Maybe this is a good time to finally sell my OG 256 GB LCD Deck.
(I upgraded to 1 TB OLED of course)
