And it's not just newbuild housing, the rest are Victorian era crumbling shit holes filled with mold and damp up to your ears.
I've rented """flats"""" that clearly used to be someone's attic or someone's basement and each time it was the most awful place one could imagine, mold falling in chunks, boiler that doesn't work in winter and gas leaks etc. One flat had the floor in the bathroom start caving in due to a slightly blocked drain because there was never meant to be a bathroom in the attic.
The flat I'm in right now is in a modern recently converted office building and had water pouring out the lights in the ceiling due to an illegal modified Airbnb upstairs and it's still the best place I've lived in this country by a mile simply because it is spacious and has sound insulation, unlike other places in Britain you cannot join in phone conversations with your neighbours by simply sharing a wall/ceiling/floor.
