I think I lost a genx friend for pointing out that Epstein et al have been manipulating liberals in the same way that they've been manipulating conservatives and that the Russia narrative is proof that they will continue to be so whereas my genz friend simply agreed w my conclusion.
as a generalization gen x probably still trust "liberal" media and "liberal" influencers (think Colbert, Stewart, Conan, Democracy Now, etc)

IDK about actually being involved in any specific details that ended up being true events that Russiagate may be associated with, but I think they were suggesting that at the minimum, Epstein was playing both sides in misinforming the culture war.
