Melt the ICE Hat, created by @yarn_cult.

The backstory:" In the 1940s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal and punishable by law to wear, make, or distribute. As purveyors of traditional craft, we felt it appropriate to revisit this design.

All proceeds from the sale of this pattern go to the LynLake community of businesses who will distribute the funds to those impacted by the actions of ICE.”

Great to see more avenues of resistance, and reminders that we've done this and won before.

As a non-knitter: looks like this effort is around patterns/crafting, not buying completed hats, right?

According to an NPR article, the pattern has raised over $400,000.

I don’t have many IRL knitting/crochet friends so it’s a pretty solitary craft for me. It’s really cool to see the collective impact the fiber community can have.

You would be correct, it’s all about crafting!
