I bought my steam deck August 25, 2022. I had been waiting for what seemed like forever to get my chance to buy one. I was so excited to get it, and when I finally did, I felt like a little kid again. It was everything I was hoping for.
I eventually stopped gaming anywhere besides my steam deck. I felt like a huge nerd, but I took it everywhere with me. I swapped the shell for a transparent purple to match my old GBA. Upgraded the SDD to 2tb. Swapped the stock thumbsticks for hall-effect thumbsticks. I got a dock, and a hard-shell case. And a battery attachment, and a usb hub. I loved it.
But eventually it started having trouble turning on or going to sleep. I'd have to press the power button 20 times before it would turn on. I tried every bug-fix I could find, two or three times. To no avail. Then yesterday I finally opened her up again. When I got the motherboard out I could tell the power button had broken off.
I am not great at tiny soldering repairs but I did my best. And I think I had it fixed. But when I was walking back to my desk I tripped and broke the motherboard in half. And now she's dead. I was very upset at first, but then today I feel weird, like I'm grieving. Anyhow, that's all I just wanted to share with someone sorry if I violated any rules you can delete this if you want to.
