Offices belonging to Elon Musk's social media platform, X, in France are being raided by the Paris prosecutor.

Its cyber-crime unit is conducting the searches, it said in a statement on X. Europol is assisting.

It added it was related to an investigation opened in January 2025 following complaints about X's algorithm and the content it recommended.

In its statement, the prosecutor's office said the operation formed part of efforts to ensure X complied with French laws. It said the probe, led by French cyber-crime police, was expanded in July 2025 after reports of sexually explicit deepfakes and holocaust denial content circulating on the platform.

I'm still wondering why any of our government structure is using X or TikTok and not Mastodon, I mean the press will "FOR SURE" fetch the info there like they do with trump

Amen ! Government officials could even create and manage their own instance.

Especially since mastodon is accessible for anyone, whether they have a mastodon account or not.

It seems like most people are still clinging to the idea that wherever the biggest audience is is where you have to be. Same thing when Facebook facilitated genocide and people were like "yeah but how will I learn about events my friends are having without Facebook". Basically "nothing is more important than me not having to slightly change how I currently operate".

Now please just shut the whole stupid thing down forever.

Additional info : initially linked to two complaints about algorithm changes causing political misinformation and allowing holocaust denying comments, the raid is enlarged for allowing and promoting child sexualized contents.
