Be respectful and civil with each other. Don't be a jerk. There is a real human being on the other side of your screen. See also the Blahaj.Zone Community Rules

No bigotry of any kind allowed. Making racist, sexist, trans-/homo-/queerphobic, otherwise demeaning and hateful comments is not ok. Disabilities and mental illnesses are not to be used as insults and should not be part of your comment unless speaking of your own or absolutely relevant.

No gatekeeping and being rude to people who don't agree with you. Leave “gamer” stereotypes out of your comment (e.g. sexless, neck bearded, teenaged, basement-dwelling, etc). Don't compare people to animals, or otherwise deny their humanity. Even if you think someone is the worst human on the planet, do not wish death or harm upon them.

Massively popular 2D sandbox Terraria has just removed gender icons from its character creation menu, and right-wingers are fuming.

But, if I’m not explicitly playing as a man, doesn’t that mean I’m trans or something? What’s gonna’ happen to my dick, bro?!

far right gamers complain that a game that had a gender changing potion for over a decade became woke because of a recent update

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

These people get mad at the stupidest shit. Meanwhile, literal fascists are murdering people in the streets...

[–] flying_sheep@lemmy.ml 5 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Yeah and they're busy cheering the fascists, and they need something to complain about so they pick this. And about people with darker skin tone than themselves probably.

Just booted up the game with the new update and didn't even realize this during character creation. Its a retro pixel game, you can't tell shit who your character is after 10 min of gameplay, once you start outfitting it with armor and funny accessories.

I hate when games don't let me make buff women and girly boy characters. Or weird shaped questionably human creatures by glitching the sliders beyond the minimum and maximum

Man, these right-wingers have nothing better to do than rage about unimportant things, you can still be fem or masc presenting in the game...I dunno what the big deal is.

Power, control, abuse, and influence.
If they can maintain their patriarchy even through video games (originally a feminine hobby), they will furor about their propaganda not being enforced in these media.

[–] LostWanderer@fedia.io 9 points 1 day ago

I keep forgetting that they don't understand women laid the groundwork for computers and made gaming possible in the present day. Worse, the fact they deliberately suppress this information as it would undermine the patriarchal narrative (which I don't subscribe to as a man). Desperate misogynists will do anything to maintain an outlook that is always at risk of collapse, as a bit of critical thinking applied to it's cobbled together structure, will topple it. I long for the day that unnecessary outrage is quelled in favor of useful discourse. I don't think humanity will come to an agreement on that matter due to our nature...Until serious work is done to rehab worldviews.

It's probably a very small number of small-minded people posting on Twitter, but the nature of that platform is that vocal minorities get signal boosted to fuck because of the dunk-tweet format and the algorithm.

[–] LostWanderer@fedia.io 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah, it likely is a combination of outrage tourists fomenting a vocal minority response and other twats+bots are boosting the message. Twitter is such a cursed social site, if it's not Grok creating CSAM and undressing women for weird and desperate men, it's stirring the pot with patriarchal propaganda or shitty hot takes.

Do these people not have anything better to do with their lives than complain about a couple pixels being in the wrong place or not giving a set of pixels a gender in the first place?

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago

God says your pixel bulges must exist in a politically-pleasing way.

[–] Blubber28@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Generally? No.

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I cannot imagine giving this much of a shit about something so unimportant.

[–] calliope@retrolemmy.com 38 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I like this quote from the article

Responding to the ongoing furore, fans of the game brought up incredibly valid questions, such as: “Who f****** cares?”

[–] Dave2@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 day ago

banger quote, thanks for sharin

[–] Zozano@aussie.zone 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Without the icon, how will I know if a character is male or female?! I demand they add a feature so i can see what's in their pants!

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Terra Blade is already in the game.

You can also download Infernum for free.

OT, but is there a community to post BigotsPostingLs?

I read the sidebar, so I didn't make post about this.

Cool! I’m confused why I’m tagged here but I’ll check it out

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 0 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (1 children)

Upvotes in threadiverse means “worth reading.” So I assumed everyone that upvoted this 1) wanted a community like I described, 2) a thread specifically about the tomodachi gender options. Thus I tagged you all.

[–] guynamedzero@piefed.zeromedia.vip 1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Ahh, that’s what I figured but wasn’t sure

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 2 points 16 hours ago

np🫡. seems sukhmel didn't appreciate this at all. Oh well ╮(︶▽︶)╭

Sorry I don't know if there is any such community on Lemmy.

Lemmy truly is the "if you want something, do it yourself" platform. 😅
