I live in Canada, so I'm sure there are plenty of nice ones available in Japan or Europe etc but I fear where I live I can't trust if something is an actual good brand or just paid shills advertising things on Instagram or mass paid 4-5 star ratings on Amazon.

Any recommendations for good Bidets? It will be my first, so I don't know exactly what I'm looking for, but I don't need it to be a rocket ship with a different program from every day of the week or some shit.

I am not afraid to spend money on it and don't necessarily want to go for the cheapest option but I also don't plan on spending $1000 on a toilet seat either.

I have access to power nearby and have the capability of modifying plumbing if need be for hot water.

Anyone have any ideas for some options?

It's for an elongated toilet btw not round.

They have built in heaters generally, you don't need to plumb in hot water. They usually just take the cold feed off the toilet. Heated seat is nice, dryer is less useful. It takes forever to blowdry and you still need to wipe to dry properly anyways.

Mine is made by BioBidet and I've been happy with it

I want to recommend a bidet shower head. It's super easy to set up and you use your current toilet bowl and down have to shuffle to another bowl to get the job done.

One added benefit is that if you get a nasty shit you can hose down the toilet with water and in some cases it helps with cleaning the shower.

Writing this from my battle station.

Hot water? Your butt won't care. I've had this for 6 years and it does the job reliably. It's $50.

I've used the fancy warm water ones. They're fine. Your butt has a lot fewer nerves than your hands. You probably won't notice the difference. You can test with a cup of water in the shower.

I should mention I'm a guy. If you've got different bits and you're looking to wash the front, that might be a good use case for a heater.

I’ve never disagreed with a post on the internet as fiercely as this one.

Toto washlet, to op. Overstock and open box retailers sometimes have them for 50+% off. But the feature set is really what you want

I put off buying a bidet for years because of being worried that having only cold water would be a highly unpleasant user experience. Then I decided to just try it, and I can confidently say that you really don't need the water to be heated for a bidet. You simply don't experience the cold water in the way that you would imagine. This is coming from someone in Sweden - our cold water is properly cold, especially in winter.

Get a basic one, you'll be just fine. Mine cost ~€75

Toto washlet.

I spent around $1300 on one in 2007

It's still going strong, zero problems. I finally replaced the oem batteries in the remote ~3 years ago.

When a set of factory AA batteries goes > 15 years, you know that this manufacturer has optimized EVERY part of their product

I would skip automatic lid open/close and the air dryer does not seem useful to me

But the heated seat, warm water spray (internal heater, uses cold water supply) and the various spray modes are fantastic.

I see Toto washlet now for less than half what I paid, and I think that's a great thing. But I'd spend the same amount again if necessary

I got my relatively cheap Brondell from Costco (in Canada) a few years ago and it still works great. Its not a fancy one but really great, simple and reliable going on 4 years or so

My first bidet was an electric Vovo one. It lasted just over a year until one day it randomly overheated and fried itself. The company wouldn't repair or replace it. With that being said, I no longer support electric bidets.

My second one and the one my wife and I still use is a Brondell. https://a.co/d/4FpnR0p

It's simple. No electric. Front or back option with a knob. You really don't notice the cold. I'm debating buying a second one for my other bathroom.
