I have really fallen in love with Stargate and I have been watching over an episode per day on average for the past few months.

I recently made it to Atlantis and Season 8 of SG1. To be honest, I was a little worried that I would not be able to enjoy it due to casting or whatever.

I'm happy to say that I love it about as much as I love SG1.

In fact, I am already on season 2 of Atlantis and season 9 of sg1. And... so far, I have some problems with season 9.

First of all... Jack O'Neill! I understand he was done with the show, but there was no send off for him. It was just so sudden. I did read about it and saw that Carter will return, so that is great.

But, the new alien girl... I hate it.

Not the actress or anything, but I hate when shows introduce these overly sexualized girls. I feel the same way about fan service in anime. I hope she goes away or stops being so horny about everything.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I love that they brought in Rodney to be the scientists for Atlantis. He was fun to watch in sg1 and I am happy that this role was given to him.

I'm also watching in the order on gateworld, and it was really worth it due to how the stories run concurrently. Like the episode where the energy beings take them back and Hammond is the general, when we know that O'Neill was promoted. So, we have a hint right away that something is off.

Rodney is definitely the best part about Atlantis, great actor and he gets a lot less obnoxious over the seasons. I especially like the ones with his sister, whom is played by the actor's actual real life sister. They got some very believeable sibling dynamics going on lol

Thanks for sharing that fact about him and his sister. That’s cool. I don’t mind him being obnoxious. It’s his character after all.

It's all great. The casting change is a little weird for a while but afterwards it gets pretty ok after they all getting into the flow.

I'm not sure I made it to season 9 in SG1, which one is the weird sexy alien character? Really hoping its not Claudia Black's character, because she's awesome in Farscape. (Which is fantastic BTW if you haven't seen it!)

I’m not sure it’s as her or not, but I think I read that actor came from there. She has a British accent.

Claudia Black is an acquired taste. Her character starts a bit two dimensional, but grows over time. She's IMHO a good actress. Check her out in Farscape if you are not intimidated by weirdness and muppets.

Stargate never learned when to stop. SG1 was amazing pretty much until the casting change, and if they had just stopped there it would have been easier to stomach than the sexy alien and dumb following plot lines. It was already getting cringy with the forced love story (did they learn nothing from the X-Files?)

Same with Atlantis, it was really good for a while and then just kinda goes off the rails and gets unwatchable.

Not really trying to insult the writers, I just think keeping a show going forever and maintaining quality may be nearly impossible.
