Love the look. This type of post makes me happy because it feels like this community's ultimate purpose being realised. This is good content with an appreciable audience that is under-served around here. For a while I have felt this place could be used to test the waters for new communication.

This isn't an area I'm personally very experienced in but maybe a !hairstyling community or something similar may find success around here.

That's some nice looking wavy hair, congrats!

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Thank you! It’s actually pin straight, but my stylist did an amazing job curling it.

God DAMN that's a gorgeous colour! How many selfies since you got home?

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

It’s like you know me, lol. I managed to take less than 20.

Not in real life! Although that’s probably not too far off into my future.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Great color. Looking good.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Thank you very much!

Is that what I’ve heard referred to as a balayage?

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nope, these are just subtle highlights. Baylage usually means a gradual color/hue/saturation change from top to bottom.

[–] digredior@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 week ago

Wow, I had no idea it had to do with coloration, but I guess that makes sense. The first time I heard the term was Ryan Reynolds saying something about a summer balayage in one of the Deadpool movies, lol.

I thought it was the wavy locks cascading down your back… which looks fabulous by the way.

[–] recursive_recursion@piefed.ca 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Damn I can only wish my hair was as fabulous and lucious as yours❤️

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thank you so much! I managed to restore it from peri menopausal hair loss and stress-related alopecia, so now I want to show it off. It was far from fabulous a couple of years ago.

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How did you do that? I’m a guy in my 40s with long hair and it’s thinning a bit and also quite frustrating to deal with.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I got minoxidil in pill form through hers.com. I tried Nutrafol for like 2 years before that and I don’t think it made a huge difference. I also tried topical minoxidil, and it was such a pain, I ended up not doing it twice a day like you are supposed to.

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’m so glad it worked for you. Your hair really is quite stunning!

I think I may end up just chopping my hair off!

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thank you! I hope that whatever you decide to do, it works out for you.

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thanks! I do really love the feeling of running my hands through my hair after it’s been washed and conditioned. It just bothers me so much with how it turns greasy within about 24 hours of washing it.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Mine sort of does too, I just started washing it more often and using the least amount of dry shampoo I can between washes.

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Okay wow! I’ve never heard of dry shampoo before! Thanks for letting me know that such a thing exists!

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

It’s a life saver honestly. It comes in regular uncolored varieties and then you can also get one made specifically for blondes or brunettes. It’s basically just baking soda-like stuff being sprayed in your hair to absorb the oil. I use the Batista brand, but there are tons to choose from.

Enjoy your new fabulous ungreasy hair!

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's a gorgeous way to style your hair. Great job and thanks for sharing!

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Thank you so much!

I wish I had hair like that. So jelly.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thank you! For context, this dye job cost $265 (tip included) so I most certainly my don’t just “wake up like this” but I am very happy with the result 😍

[–] Quexotic@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

Yeah, I'd definitely need something for the grays and also need to grow it out.

Im quite jealous of your hair.
