Heavy as fuck stoner/doom/sludge metal from Japan. This is the opener to their latest album - their seventh(?). Quite a long career for a band from a place of origin whose typically known for the "visual kei" and "burning spirits" movements.

God I fucking love Church of Misery, Japan has an incredible doom metal scene btw, look into it, couple quick off the cuff recs are bands like King Goblin, Birushanah, Coffins, Black Lab, and Corrupted. Pretty heavy death metal influences on most of these, but you shouldn't be surprised to see that from me lol. That said, there exists plenty of straightforward psych/stoner stuff from Japan too, the biggest issue I've noticed is a lot of Japanese bands don't get their catalog on all the streaming services. You're usually lucky to find them on spotify and maybe bandcamp.

Hope you enjoy! King Goblin is a particular favorite of mine, fascinating blend of of death/grind and psych doom.

Ooh yea, thanks for the heads up! With all the posting I've been doing in the other communities, I typically only found those aforementioned movements, genres? before, but will definitely keep an open eye out for others going forward.

I wouldn't call it a "big" movement, but it has it's own eclectic sound.
