Welcome OPi! Sorry, I need to ask you to edit the title to tag the comic name (or artist). In this case, could you add [Work Chronicles] to the title?

I'm happy to! Sorry, I'm a noob, haha

I used to work with a guy like that. The previous company he worked at did everything more efficient and better and wonderful so we asked him why he didnt work there anymore.

Turned out the place had filed for bankruptcy.

I mean this is kinda fair.

I've started many a new job and could only think of how much better things were run at my old jobs.

Sometimes places just have shitty ways of doing things even though on the surface everything seems to be running smoothly meanwhile the workers have to deal with unnecessary steps that just slow everything down.

Yeah... my current job like...

  • doesn't do real code reviews. They just kind of eyeball it, from what I can tell
  • doesn't do automated testing
  • Doesn't write tickets with enough information for anyone to figure out what to do

But they've been doing it this way for years, so changing it is a long road.

Write up a process and submit it to the CAB. Let them decide if the change is process is warranted.

Usually those are the ones who cannot give an answer when you ask how the company achieved this 'betterness'

It sucks when this is “before you took over and changed everything…”

(also, this one also seems political too… sorry, I said I wouldn’t do that anymore, but…)

Yeah workplace politics is definitely a thing, but the guidelines I set specifically target govt and megacorp current events. This is more like, eternal human nature.

(Just explaining my viewpoint so others have a better idea what the comm is about).

Well, I guess the workplace has a form of politics. 🤷 A lot of the jokes in this comic are workers vs management. I think of it as finding humor in daily office life.

Would you call the TV show The Office political? The humor is similar I think

I would, but I’m not trying to be an ass or anything. I just can’t help but see the power dynamics in most things. I think some people can’t stand The Office (the show) due to “the cringe.” And part of that cringe is the office politics woven into many situations.
