Like it's not even the Soviet union any more. It's just a capitalist nation with a dictator. I just don't understand why tankies are so obsessed with these modern countries that aren't even remotely communist anymore. Just authoritarian
They call it "critical support", basically the enemy of my enemy (the west) is my friend.
In theory the critical part is meant to imply they criticise the bad stuff the friend does, and only support the good. The reality is they rarely if ever speak out critically and only show support because being critical hurts their friends ability to do 'good'.
After spending all of 2024 cheering for genocide, centrists pretend that they are anti-genocide.
Which one they against now?
They're against anyone who doesn't support netanyahu.
At the end of the day both tankies and libs have decided that one side is the “good” side and so they continually minimise or deny atrocities coming from that side.
Hopefully over time more people build the intuition that when we talk about power the baseline is “bad” and at best we can be talking about “bad vs worse”.
But Iran and Russia get a pass because they’re not American or really allied to them you know?
