"As revolutionaries, we don't have the right to say that we're tired of explaining. We must never stop explaining. We also know that when the people understand, they cannot but follow us. In any case, we, the people, have no enemies when it comes to peoples. Our only enemies are the imperialist regimes and organizations." Thomas Sankara, 1985

12,000

Radio Free Asia Black Book ass number that bespeaks desperation

These protests started on Dec 28th. That's 17 days prior to their claims. They want us to believe that the Iranians are managing to kill almost 1k protestors per day when the Israeli occupation of Gaza was only killing 250 per day. It's wild. And my lib friends are doing the AOC at the fences meme.

Iranian police in riot gear can kill as many people with small arms as isisrael does with jets bombs and tanks. This is why israel is so scared of Iran.

Wow.

I cannot begin to describe how frustrating it is every time a lie explodes in popularity while an important fact remains obscure.

It's astroturfed. This is not natural traffic.

Unsurprising to say the least. Frankly, I kinda doubt most engagement on that site is organic but I'm also willing to believe that the majority American userbase of reddit is lib enough to just uncritically accept this as gospel without further investigation.

A common trick of Liberals is to present fake context for pictures, avoid discussion of whether the brutal act in the picture were done by the accused party, create distraction from meaningless discussion on whether the brutal acts in the picture existed, and lied that the accused party were denying the act in the picture when the accused party were denying participation in the brutality in the picture.

The crossposted link is erroring. Very weird.

I’m trying to figure out how to tie the imgur video you posted to Iraq. I can’t find anything about it. I haven’t been able to get Tineye to find anything with the images.

Can you help?

OK, I found the text of the instagram screenshot you posted here: https://www.instagram.com/p/B7O3AhSgecL/

The full text is:

#Iraq 🇮🇶 || Schools, particularly in displacement camps, are chronically understaffed and in many instances teachers are still not being paid. Classes are extremely overcrowded, there is often a shortage of teachers, and children missing civil documentation are denied the opportunity to receive an education altogether. .

The pictures associated with that post are just screenshots of text-only tweets by NRC MiddleEast. They don't appear to be related in any way to the images being used in present-day reporting on Iran.

Edit: Also, the video you linked to on Instagram was posted 13h ago. For some reason, it has no title and no information about who posted it. I have no clue what this is a video of

Also I’m seeing different numbers. 2,000 dead and 10,000 wounded or was it imprisoned?

I’m sure it’s bad all around but would be nice if people weren’t making up numbers.

[–] Saymaz@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 1 week ago

Guess what their single source is? It's CBS. Yes, Bari Weiss' CBS.

I’m sure it’s bad all around

Can you ask yourself why you assume this? Do you think you based your assumption on what you have previously been told about Iran by the same people who are making up numbers like 10,000 and 2,000?

Yes people have died and that is bad but many of them were probably killed by the rioters not police and the ones the police have killed were likely directly participating in violent acts. There are reports of police having beheaded by "protestors." "bad all round" would imply that none of the deaths were justified.

The subreddit is full of bots; you post a picture of Obama there and you get 100,000 likes.

[–] Cowbee@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 week ago

More evidence of Reddit being astroturfed to hell and back.

[–] KoloradoKoolAid75@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Are there any good sources for debunking any propaganda against Iran? Ik Iran is not an utopia, but it's not the hellscape the globonorf is claiming.

[–] Commiejones@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

So the video link is only a day old and the text in the image is a comment on another post. How do we know it is a 6 year old video or that it is Iraq?
