Not exactly the same, but in a similar vein, I stopped watching Doctor Who because it felt like everything was always end-of-the-universe. I liked Old Who where they just had to be clever (without the sonic screwdriver and Tardis saving the day) to solve the problem they were in, not save the galaxy all the time.

I stopped watching years ago, the Rosa Parks episode, half-way through. My first Doctor was Tom Baker when I was a kid. I was a bit sad that the show was no longer something I wanted to watch, but I figured it was just me getting old, and it had become a show for a younger audience.

It arguably always has been, though I think the degree to which that's the case has fluctuated over the years.
It deliberately went for a more grown-up audience in the Pertwee years, but found its way back younger with Baker I.
I think it "matured" throughout the new era as well, with RTD seemingly hitting a hard reset to being more kind-friendly in the Gatwa era.
At least, I think that's what he was going for.
